Our High Tensile (HT) range of bolting includes Metric (Standard and Fine Pitch)/ Unified (UNF and UNC) / Whitworth (BSW)/British Standard Fine(BSF)
Grades :
Metric grades are 8.8 and 10.9 (12.9 on application)
Unified grades are SAE 5 / BS1768 grade S , and SAE 8 / BS 1768 grade V
Whitworth and BSF grades are BS1083 Grade R
As an approximate guide :
8.8 (80kgf/sq mm)=SAE5 =BS1768 Grade S = 50ton/sq inch
10.9 (100kgf/sq mm) = SAE8 = BS1768 Grade V = 65ton/sq inch
BS1083 Grade R = 45ton/sq inch
In comparison Mild Steel (grade 4.6) = 28ton/sq inch
Finishes :
Generally we stock :
Metric 8.8 in Bright Zinc plated (BZP), Plain Finish available if required
Metric 10.9 in BZP and Plain Finish
Unified BZP if smaller than ½inch diameter, Plain if larger than ½inch diameter
Whit / BSF in Plain Finish
Metric Hot Dip Galvanized available to order.
